What is the normal procedure to start?
An assessment is taken before any brain training is done, and your individual brain’s energy is mapped. This takes approximately an hour and a half and the trainer will take readings from seven sets of locations across your head using standard EEG cables. Be prepared for your head to be touched during the assessment and all brain training sessions. Readings will be taken while your eyes are closed, half open (looking through your eye lashes) and with your eyes wide open while also doing some sort of mental task such as simple math or reading. After the assessment and a discussion with your trainer, a report is generated which outlines your specific protocol needs. You will also be asked to fill out a few simple forms.
How many brain training sessions do I need?
Every brain, like every person, is unique. The recommended minimum is one assessment and 8-10 (possibly 12 for children) sessions, otherwise called an “intensive.” Each individual session uses the recommended protocols to bring your brain into a balanced and harmonized state. The brain training sessions last an hour and a half to two hours, optimally doing two per day. It is best to schedule a 4-5 day period of availability, if possible. This “intensive” brain training often brings about the most desired results. More brain training sessions are available and up to the individual client’s judgment, upon consultation with the trainer.
Is it permanent or will I have to keep coming back for training?
Unlike training muscles, which will atrophy from lack of use, the brain naturally seeks homeostasis (a balanced, stable state of being). This means that after you have done brain state conditioning (i.e. brain training), it is more difficult to get out of balance, and much easier to return to balance. Somewhat like riding a bicycle, so that once you have learned how to balance it is easy to remember and difficult to force yourself to become unbalanced…..the balanced state is the naturally desired and effortlessly maintained state of being. The new neuro-net pathways created in the brain are permanent and you can choose to use them or not. However, human beings are continually expanding and experiencing new life challenges and traumas (whether professional or personal), so further brain training may prove beneficial as life progresses.
What can I expect after my brain training?
Again, every brain, like every person is unique, and so will the responses be. The Evolutionary Brain and Brain State Technologies are not a medically oriented facility, and we do not diagnose and treat symptoms. We balance the brain and clients often notice that symptoms improve or go away.
Many clients experience a positive change in sleeping habits. Often for the better, the client sleeps deeper and more efficiently. Disruption of sleep, however minimal, is a sign of stress. When the brain is in a more balanced state, sleep difficulties seem to consistently improve.
Otherwise, you may feel energized, light-hearted and ready to take on the world with renewed enthusiasm. Increased focus and clarity of mind, along with an overall upliftment of mood are commonly reported following brain training. Steady energy throughout the day and less need for naps or breaks are often a benefit.
After brain training, you may realize you no longer desire stimulants, depressants, drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, caffeine, etc. Clients report “losing their taste” for smoking, coffee, and liquor. The balanced brain seems to negate the desire for uppers and downers.
Many clients experience profound and dramatic changes and yet, most clients notice these changes subtly at first and they grow over time. Most often, significant results are actually noticed 2-3 weeks after brain training is finished. Also, when the brain changes, people don’t commonly notice the change right away because it feels as if they have always been that way. As the brain becomes more balanced, people actually become more like their true selves. Other people tend to notice changes in the brain trained client first!
What does brain training feel like?
Almost always the brain training sessions are a relaxing process incorporating visualization and meditation. The client reclines in a zero gravity chair, listens to electronically generated “music” via earphones, and EEG electrodes are placed on the skull measuring brain energy. It’s easy and sometimes fun. Rarely, there may be a protocol that is slightly unpleasant to the client, and if this is so, we ask that the client take responsibility and speak with the trainer about it.
Are there any clients it does not work on?
Those that are not truly committed to their betterment of self will not benefit as much as those with the deliberate intention to create an improvement of health. Children benefit as adults do, often more so because the changes have a larger impact over a longer lifetime! However since it is an intensive therapy we believe that children only 8 years or older are capable of participation. Cases may be evaluated on an individual basis.
Are my sessions confidential?
Absolutely. None of your personal information is accessible at any time. The training file itself is a proprietary code which is only readable with the Brain State Technologies software program which requires a hardware key and software decryption in order to play.
Is there anything I should or shouldn't do while training?
Since the brain uses many calories and is mostly water, it is recommended that you drink a large amount of water during training and also consume a larger than usual amount of protein. Plenty of opportunity to rest is needed.
It is best to avoid alcohol, recreational drugs, cranial sacral work, chiropractic adjustment or other forms of energy work while you participate in brain training and for approximately one month afterward.
We are not medical doctors and do not recommend you stop your medication or nutritional supplements while training. However, if you are taking nutritional supplements of your own volition, we ask that you please stop taking the following supplements 1-2 days before you begin brain state conditioning:
